INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN UPDATE 11/17/20: STA will Begin Virtual Instruction on Monday, November 23rd.
Last night, the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District (LSR7) Board of Education voted to implement a virtual learning model for grades 4-12 within Lee’s Summit Schools, including STA. This change in learning model for all grades 4-12 will start on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020. LSR7 plans for virtual learning to continue for grades 4-12 through at least until the end of the first semester, Jan. 21, 2021.
Here is the plan moving forward, as determined by the LSR7 Board last night.
- All STA students will continue to operate in their current learning models through Friday, Nov. 20. Teachers and staff will begin preparing students and families for the transition this week. This may include sending home items with students or reminding them to bring certain items back-and-forth from home to school regularly that they may need for virtual learning.
- Monday, Nov. 23 and Tuesday Nov. 24 will be the start of virtual instruction for all STA students, and will continue through at least January 21, 2021. Your student’s STA instructor will provide information regarding expectations for virtual learning for the individual STA capstone course.
- All STA students will communicate with teachers through Schoology and utilize Google Meets for synchronous instruction. Further instructions regarding how each student will access instruction will be shared with students by STA teachers.
LSR7 will reevaluate appropriate learning models no sooner than January 14. This will ensure that LSR7 can look at the state of transmission within the community two weeks after winter break.
LSR7 and STA do not take this decision lightly and truly appreciate your continued patience and understanding during these most challenging times.
