STA Celebrates 25 years!

Summit Technology Academy (STA) starts its 25th year in High-Quality Learning. STA offers Capstone experiences for high school juniors and seniors in a variety of high-wage, high demand career areas. "25 years ago, STA was 1 classroom with a focus of building a pipeline for Engineering in the KC Metro area," remembers Director Dr. Jeremy Bonnesen. Students who are passionate, focused, and driven can accelerate their career path at STA.

STA moved from the Summit Technology Campus on Chipman Road to the Missouri Innovation Campus off Tutor road for the 2016-2017 school year. STA at MIC is home to 5 Career Pathways and more than 20 Capstone Courses. In 2023, STA opened its second campus with STA at the Paradise Park Campus with the Environmental Studies and Hopsitality, Tourism, and Recreation Managament Capstone courses.

"Today, students continue to have a hands-on, career focused education which puts them in the drivers seat of their learning," Dr. Bonnesen reflects. Students acquire new skills and new learning, right away apply those skills in an industry-focused way, and then look to amplify those experiences with job shadowing, interships, or deep, rich career-centered projects involving real-world clients. Students walk away being more prepared for the next step, whether that is "earn as you learn" job, college, or another post-secondary career option.
