Speaking the Language of Computers

If gaming and apps are your thing, this is the course for you! Explore the history of game design while learning and utilizing the phases in the game development cycle. Learn the process of the design and implementation of software applications, including games, from initial research and development to the end goal of implementation. Students will learn what they need to create a functioning application by the end of this course.

This is a semester-long offering to be paired with another course from the Computer Science Pathway. Please be mindful of prerequisites.

Prerequisites:

  • Software Development - Java or PLTW Computer Science A and a teacher recommendation
  • Grade: 11 or 12
  • Proficient in Keyboarding, min. 30 wpm
  • Reading/Writing at 10th grade level or higher
  • Algebra II with a B- or better OR  previous programming knowledge
  • 2.5 GPA (Unweighted)
  • 90% Attendance
  • Outside class Internet access is required.

PLTW Member School Prerequisites:

  • PLTW Computer Science Principles

High School Credits: 3 units (2 semesters)

LSR7 Weighted Credit:  .666 

NON Lee's Summit Schools Weighted Credit: Varies by School

College Dual Credit:UCM CS 1820
