Parking
Operating a vehicle on the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) is a professional privilege extended to juniors and seniors who demonstrate responsibility, safety, and maturity.
Driving Eligibility & Vehicle Registration
-
District Permission: The exclusive decision to allow students to drive to Summit Technology Academy rests with your sending school. Students must adhere to their home high school’s specific driving policies and utilize district-provided bus transportation whenever required.
-
Operator Requirements: Student drivers must be at least 16 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
-
Vehicle Registration: All personal vehicles driven to campus must be registered through the STA online enrollment process.
-
Temporary Vehicles: If you must drive an unregistered vehicle to campus for the day, you must report the vehicle’s make, model, and license plate number to the STA Student Administration Office immediately upon entering the building to avoid compliance violations.
Parking Permits & Decal Display
-
Decal Placement: Students must obtain an official STA parking window decal and display it on the inside of the front windshield, on the lower left side (driver’s side).
-
Decal Security: Students are entirely responsible for the security of their issued permit. Lost or stolen decals must be reported to the STA office immediately; a replacement permit may be purchased for $20.00.
-
Vehicle Security: For your protection, always lock your vehicle. STA and the Missouri Innovation Campus assume no financial responsibility for accidents, damage, or theft occurring on school property.
Students parked on school grounds who have not properly obtained a permit or fail to display their window decal properly will be subject to the following penalties:
- 1st Offense - Student Warning
- 2nd Offense - Student Warning
- 3rd Offense - $20.00 fine
- 4th Offense - Parent Contact/Permit revocation for the remainder of the semester

Campus Traffic Safety & Space Expectations
-
Speed Limit & Discipline: Maintain a speed of 15 mph or less at all times. Drivers must navigate via established driving lanes only; cutting through open parking stalls is prohibited.
-
Campus Transitions: Upon arriving on campus, students must immediately transition from their vehicles into the building. Sitting in parked cars before or after class, loitering in the parking lots, or returning to vehicles during the school day without administrative authorization is strictly prohibited.
-
Campus Recreation: Skateboarding, rollerblading, or the use of any personal skates is prohibited anywhere on campus property.
-
Safety and Search Policy: To sustain a safe school environment, STA coordinates closely with law enforcement. All vehicles parked on school grounds are subject to random periodic searches, which may include the assistance of trained canine units.
Parking Lot Entrance/Exit Procedures
Operating a vehicle on the Missouri Innovation Campus is a professional privilege. All student vehicles must display a valid permit, with parking restricted by color zone:
-
Green Permit (North Lot): Park only in the green zone on the map and utilize the north entrance/exit. Students will turn right when exiting the parking lot.
-
Red Permit (South Lot): Park only in the designated STA spaces within this shared UCM lot. Drivers must yield and wait for all school buses to depart before exiting this lot. Students will utilize the south entrance/exit and turn left when exiting the parking lot.
-
Prohibited Parking Zones: Parking in a visitor lot, staff parking, UCM student parking (outside of designated STA spaces), fire zones, handicapped areas (without state authorization), or any non-student spaces will result in immediate administrative action and/or towing at the owner’s expense.
Compliance & Enforcement
Failure to follow these guidelines or driving recklessly compromises campus safety. Non-compliant vehicles are subject to ticketing or towing by Missouri Innovation Campus Security, and violations will result in school discipline or the immediate revocation of driving privileges.
- 1st Offense - Official Student Warning
- 2nd Offense - Official Student Warning
- 3rd Offense - $20.00 fine

Parking Safety Video
Key Takeaways in This Video:
-
The Speed Limit: Keep it at 15 mph or less at all times.
-
The Zipper Merge: When exiting the parking lot, use the alternating "zipper merge" method (every other car). Don't be the snag in the zipper—be a good human being!
-
Designated Parking: Students are required to park strictly in the areas designated by your parking permit - Green permit = green lot & Red permit = red lot.
-
No Loitering: Hanging out or loitering in parked cars on school grounds is strictly prohibited. Once you arrive, transition into the building.
-
Vehicle Access: Need to go to your car during the school day? You must get administrator approval first.
-
Permit Accountability: Never use a lost, stolen, or borrowed permit, or you risk losing your driving privileges entirely.
-
Prohibited Zones: Do not park in fire zones, handicapped spaces, staff parking, or non-student areas. Violations result in automatic disciplinary action and/or towing at the owner's expense.
Drive safely, respect the traffic patterns, and let’s work together to make the parking experience great for everyone.
