Step 1-Apply online to STA by the first week of January by following these instructions:

Private School Students:  Apply to STA by clicking “Sending Schools” and then choosing the name of your private school in the drop down menu when you create your account OR “Private School not listed” if your private school is not listed in the drop down menu when you create your account.

If the name of your private school is NOT listed in the drop down menu when you create your application account, complete the following four tasks:

  1. Teacher online reference:  type the email address of the teachers who will be completing your online reference form in the blank in place of the teachers’ names. 
  2. At the top of your first essay answer, you must include the name of your private school and the name of your public high school of residence (where you would attend if you were to attend public high school).  
  3. Also, at the top of your first essay answer, include the contact information (email and phone)  for your two teachers who will complete the online reference survey for you. 
  4. Ensure your private school emails Dr. Bonnesen (jeremy.bonnesen@lsr7.net) your latest transcript, unweighted GPA, and attendance percentage.

Home School Students:  Apply to STA by clicking “Sending Schools”  and then choosing  “Home School” in the drop down menu when you create your account.

Complete the following four tasks:

  1. Teacher online reference:  type the email address of the teachers who will be completing your online reference form in the blank in place of the teachers’ names. 
  2. At the top of your first essay answer, you must include that you are a home school student and the name of your public high school of residence (where you would attend if you were to go to public high school).  
  3. At the top of your first essay answer, include the contact information for your two teachers who will complete the online reference form for you.
  4. Ensure your home school administrator emails Dr. Bonnesen (jeremy.bonnesen@lsr7.net) your latest transcript, and unweighted GPA.

Step 2-Request Endorsement from your public school of residence.

By the end of March if you have qualified for the STA course for which you have applied, you will receive an letter of qualification from STA and a form to request endorsement at your public school of residence.  This letter and form will include the name of the liaison contact at your public high school of residence for you to begin the process of requesting endorsement.  Endorsement means the public school of residence agrees agrees to pay the $3,500 tuition rate to attend Summit Technology Academy. (Summit Technology Academy can only receive public school funds. LSR7 Board Policy  and not allow Summit Technology Academy to accept private funds for tuition to the Academy.)

Step 3- Email Completed Endorsement Form to STA/ Enroll at Your Public School of Residence.

A. Submit your completed endorsement form to Dr. Jeremy Bonnesen (jeremy.bonnesen@lsr7.net).  STA must have your completed endorsement form on file in order for you to proceed further.

B. Next, you need to officially enroll at that high public high school.    Upon officially enrolling at your public school of residence, email your official class schedule from the public school of residence showing your proof of your approved enrollment status at the public school of residence to Dr. Jeremy Bonnesen, STA Assistant Principal (jeremy.bonnesen@lsr7.net).

Step 4- Letter of acceptance admittance to STA.  

After STA has received your completed endorsement form and class schedule from your public school of residence, STA will send you a letter of admittance as long as there are spots available  (e.g. Professional Nursing has limited spots available).
